I’m always looking for innovative ways of creating a shanty boat and today I found a great idea. Though it’s not a shanty boat per se the basic idea could certainly be adapted.
In Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada, the School of Fish Foundation created a floating dining room using 1,672 salvaged 2-liter plastic bottles for flotation.

I don’t think this would be easy to move about and most certainly would have to be in very protected waters to work. But it’s a great idea and a way of “greening.” It would take quite a while to gather up that many bottles but they’re free for the taking.
